| On Sunday, July 22 from 1 pm to 4 pm Mark will speak about the neurological mechanisms that change competitive behavior into cooperation, and selfishness into selfless empathy. Compassionate Communication is a new meditation that was created in the neuroscience labs at University of Pennsylvania, but is based on the key elements of the major spiritual traditions of the world. $25 suggested donation 1st Hour: Exercising Compassionate Communication with each other. We'll use a standardized test to show the world that prayer and meditation, when combined with dialogue, transforms defensiveness into intimacy, in less than 5 minutes. 2nd Hour: Mark will take you into the neural mechanisms of spirituality and compassion. You will see what consciousness really is. You'll be introduced to the newest discoveries in brain science showing why human beings are unique in their ability to be compassionate and creative. Indeed, human beings can use their consciousness to literally change the neurological functioning in many other parts of the brain, promoting physical and emotional health. We will discover how children's pictures of God evolve as they are exposed to spiritual ideals and participate in a fun visualization demonstrating how this works. 3rd Hour: Participants will explore a wide range of questions relating to religion, spirituality, and the brain. Mark will introduce new research showing how meditation improves memory. We'll see a video in which Andy Newberg takes us inside the brain of a meditator to show us how we can literally change the inner realities we perceive. |
